Plumbing and Heating Engineers, Manchester.
Contractor Plus. Health and Safety Approved Contractor.
We are part of the contractor plus scheme. This means that we have to ensure our health and safety is in line with the latest legislation.
We are Gas Safe registered plumbing and heating engineers.
This allows us by law to work safely and legally on boilers, cookers, fires and all other gas appliances.
We have our own health and safety policy and ensure risk assesments and method statements are complete before work is started.
When we undertake a job, in an existing home, the first thing we consider is protecting the clients existing floor coverings. Whether it be a stairs, hall-way or lounge. Carpet fitters can be expensive, dust sheets can be messy and dangerous, especially on hard floors. We wrap the entire service area with a sticky back durable plastic. This remains down during the complete job. It can be swept and mopped clean every night leaving a clean safe surface for the client to walk on in the evenings. This is especially useful on jobs that take time like bathroom suites and also speeds up the job as there is no picking up and putting down of dust sheets every day. At the end of the job it is easily pulled up leaving a completely clean surface. At Griffin Installations Ltd we take pride in our work and treat clients and there belongings as we would treat ourselves and our belongings.
Disabled Toilet and Shower Room Refurbishment
Building 8, Princess Parade, Liverpool Docks
This building is owned by Peel Holdings. We were commissioned to modernize the toilets and change the disabled toilet into a shower room, as economically as possible. We changed the sinks and taps. Replaced the salmon vanity units and doors with, a black alternative, giving it a more modern look. The shower room caused problems due to the height of the waste of the shower gully. We decided to use a pumped gully, the pump literally sucks the water out of the tray. This allows us to put the shower tray as close to the floor as possible, the alternative would be to put the shower on a 18 “, tiled plinth.
We also use this system in flats, where tolerances for soil is low and clients have mobility problems, needing a low level shower tray.
Disabled Toilet and Shower Room Refurbishment
Building 12, Princess Parade, Liverpool Docks
This is another shower room we were asked to fit by Peel Holdings. This time it was in building 12 Princess Parade Liverpool Docks. This was practically the same project as in building 8 but with a different floor covering and fully tiled. The room was previously a disabled toilet. Again we used a pumped gully system that allowed us to keep the tray as low to the floor as possible. We are starting to see a trend in offices where clients want a shower at work, after cycling or running to work. Or just to help them in their ever busy life styles. Peel Holdings have more plans to fit showers in there offices all over the north west.
Hot Water, Heating and Toilets
The Ice Factory, Deeside, North Wales
We were commissioned by, Iceland, to provide hot water, heating, toilets, and specialized slues sinks, knee push sinks for this factory. The emphasis on this job was cleanliness due to the sterile environment. The client wanted copious amounts of hot water, for jetting of equipment and floors. So a large boiler and two 210litre pressurised cylinders were fitted to cope with demand.
Complete Plumbing and Heating Refurbishment
Gore Crescent, Salford
The gore crescent job was a complete plumbing and heating refurbishment. The owner bought all the bathroom suite, tiles, downstairs toilet, fire and fitted the kitchen themselves. We supplied boiler radiators and all pipe work and fittings. The client had a budget so we suggested only partial tiling of bathroom and toilet. We also suggested using lino on floors and the finish looked great. With a total refurbishment you have to watch your budget and moving back in as quick as possible was very important. So we tailored our work to their demands. Tiling floors could be done later when money was more available. The heating comprised of, a cupboard fit Worcester condensing boiler, Henrad radiators with thermostatic valves and the system was controlled by a Honeywell programmable room thermostat giving optimum efficiency. The client was completely satisfied and kept informed of progress continually.
Semi Commercial Plumbing and Heating System
Help Old People Scheme (HOPS), Leeds
We came about quoting this job after working for Alisdair Methven, who are the main project managers for Bupa. H.O.P.S. had just taken over the lease of a church village hall that needed major refurbishment. Bupa are a supporter of this charity and asked Alisdair Methven to run this project, who in turn asked us to get involved with the plumbing.
The building needed a semi commercial heating system to heat 3 large halls and supply hot water to a kitchen, 2 disabled toilets and a male and female toilet. We were commissioned to complete all drainage and plumbing works, supplying all materials.
Previous to this job we fitted sensor taps, for Bupa, in one of their office blocks in Media City Salford. There were 40 taps in total fitted over 8 floors of ladies and gents toilets. Because of the good job we did fitting these taps it has led to a good working relationship between Griffin Installation, Alisdair Methven and Bupa.
Rivington Court, Salford
The client had struggled for a decent shower and bath space as there was no decent corner to place the shower/bath in. So we came up with the idea of building a small stud wall near the centre of the room, this allowed us to butt the bath up to a corner. This allowed us to fit a good screen instead of a shower curtain and also saved money in that we did not have to buy a more complicated screen. We then fitted the sink in the alcove with an illuminated mirror. We fitted a back to wall toilet with concealed cistern, which gave cleaner lines. We put a neat shelf on top of the toilet to allow easy access to the cistern for easy maintenance. The client supplied all the tiles and bath suite, with our advice. We supplied all labour including electrician and tiler.
The client had just recently purchased this ground floor apartment due to illness and needed to live some where with easy access due to being unsteady on there feet. They required the bath taking out and needed a large walk in shower with no step. They had been told this could not be done due to the height of the waste from the old bath and because they had concrete floors. To get over this problem we installed a pumped gully system which sucks the water out of the tray and pumps it into the soil pipe at a higher level; allowing us to fit the tray low on the concrete. We managed to remove the bath only and fit the shower within the existing bathroom leaving the toilet and sink alone. The client wanted a shower which needed very little maintenance with a sleek finish so instead of tiles we fitted wet wall sheeting in a black marble and chrome trim finish and chrome shower screen. Finally we boxed in there existing surface pipe work with white boxing to match the gulley pump.
Full Heating System and Fitted Bathrooms.
We have just completed a major refurbishing of a stand alone mansion next to Lymm tennis club. We were commissioned by Norman Fisher construction to fit a brand new heating system in the 17 roomed house plus 5 bathrooms and a ground floor toilet. The heating system comprised of 3 zones and under floor heating system. Hot water was provided by a pressurized cylinder which was circulated around the house by a pump. All bathrooms were first fixed tiled and second fixed by ourselves. Radiators supplied by the client were floor standing cast iron radiators that had been coloured to the clients spec. We have enjoyed a ten year relationship with this client and together we have worked on many large projects like this one including 2 Kids planet nurseries.
